Starbucks is out of Fresh Ideas…
…So they’ve sent teams of scavengers out into the neighborhoods to troll for them.
Hm, flattering? Is it scary? hm..I don’t know. First instant coffee, now this, combine with a stenciled gunny sack ad campaign, and you’ve got a classic cry for help.
Which brings me to why I’m posting, a recent Seattle Coffee Works blog post has so completely nailed the independent coffee shop thing, that I just have to direct any and all attention I can to it. theLink> (That Chain with the Green Logo.” -Sebastian Simsch)

SO if you haven’t already read Sebastian Simsch’s brilliant article at the Seattle Coffee Works Blog, you really should, even if you aren’t a Seattle coffee shop owner,or a Barista, or a friend of a Barista, or a cousin of a girl that once lived with a Barista that made an Americano for Kurt Cobain’s assistant, it’s a good read.

Additionally- have you seen the giant drinking man at 1’st and Pike Yet, So Great! Damn, directly opposite the Pike Place Clock a brand new Seattle Icon to be photographed in front of. And people will make a B-Line for it in the walk-all-ways crosswalk.
” Starbucks? what Starbucks?”
“We just walked past it, that short dark shuttered place place back there on the corner where something better looking used be.”
-anyway, it was an inspiring article, at least for me, hopefully for others. Bedlam doesn’t want to be SCW, but we sure can appreciate the divine attention they bring to the independent coffeeshop. Applause Applause Applause for Seattle Coffee Works

Bedlam will be open till 3am Fri/Sat
Yep, Bedlam is backing up in respect to it’s 24 hour weekends. Right now it just doesn’t seem like there’s enough interest. We will be open till 3am tho, so it’s kinda like were still doing it, and we are not ruling it our for the future. When we are busy at 3am, then we’ll bring back the 24 hour weekend thing, but for now 3am seems pretty well in line with what the customers want.

We are very close now!
After two months we at last have a permit to begin the work on the new shop. Two months to get a permit to do about two days worth of work. We could be open as early as Saturday the 23rd, but certainly by next week without a doubt.
