Have you heard about this app? I just came across this while searching for Seattle specific apps. It’s not actually just Seattle tho, a few cities. The way it works is, your walking down the street, you see a broken street lamp, you snap a picture of it (I’ve not yet done that) you post this with a description of the problem, other people do the same thing, the city sees it and it get’s fixed.

Another way it’s being used right now in Seattle is on Capitol Hill, the intersection at Broadway and John has a few people interested in changing it into an all walk (like 1st and Pike) intersection. I agreed with it so I clicked the little button and added my name to the list of people who thinks it’s something that needs a fix. Now we can all sit back and smugly enjoy the “tell your government what to do” feeling. AND they give you one of those .pdf you can print with a bar code on it to ease access for those app users that can read them when posted at the site of the needed fix. (while at the same time becoming something that needs to be fixed)
Course the blazing question in your mind, and mine…does the city actually fix it? Is there a list somewhere of things being fixed either here or elsewhere?I dunno. (there does seem to be a system in place to check off what did get fixed, no idea if the fixer is doing that tho, I bet not)
I think this is a great idea, and I plan to see what I can do to find out whether Seattle City gov even knows this app/site exists.
